Hearty Oatmeal
Total Cost: Around $4
Heat milk over medium heat. Add pinch of salt. Wait until milk starts foaming and then throw in oatmeal. Cook at a rolling boil for one minute, then throw in brown sugar, nuts/seeds, and spices. Boil for another 2-3 minutes or until the mixture starts getting thicker. Turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and move the pot off the burner. Let it sit for another 2 min and then serve.
Perfect Pancakes
Combine dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another bowl. Mix the two together and then let sit for 5 min. Heat skillet to medium-low heat and drop a slab of unsalted butter in there. Slatter the butter around in the pan using a fork or knife and leave it until the butter starts foaming. Pour pancake batter in dollops about 6inches wide and let cook until bubbles start forming on top and the bottom starts browning, then flip and cook on the other side until that side starts browning too. Transfer to plate and serve with maple syrup or your favorite jam!
Banana Bread
Add some peanut butter, cream cheese, or a fried egg on a slice of this and you've got yourself a quick, cheap, and filling breakfast!
Mush ripe bananas in a mixing bowl using a fork or the rubber spatula. Add butter, sugars, vanilla extract and eggs to the bowl. Mix until combined. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt. Mix again until combined. Add chocolate chips and nuts if you want to, and then pour batter using rubber spatula into a loaf pan pre-sprayed with oil or greased with butter. Sprinkle more sugar/spices/nuts on top of batter if you want. Bake in the oven at 350F for 1 hour. Let cool for at least 10 min out of the oven and then enjoy!
