WELCOME TO GG'S GARAGE

Like most people, I bought Animal Crossing: New Horizons during the first week of covid lockdown. For me (and a whole lot of others) this game was one of the ONLY ways I could hang out with my friends while we were all stuck physically isolating from each other (besides Jackbox Party/Gmod/etc). During lockdown I lived in an apartment with 3 other people, so I never got very lonely irl, but obviously I wanted to see and talk to my other friends, and New Horizons filled that void pretty well.

I named my island "GG's Garage" after the hang out spot from Jet Set Radio. I don't really have a theme to my island and just built whatever I wanted. My favorite areas I've made are my future funk disco club, a smoke spot, a summoning circle (I had to draw all those tiles by hand btw), and my personal favortie, a sketchy basement dive bar complete with a merch table, terrible bathrooms, and drugs dropped all over the floor lol.

I seriously think this game could not have released at a better time in human history. Thanks to the daily/weekly/monthly mechanics, lockdown didn't feel like a long waiting game for me, because every day I could always play New Horizons and expect a different little side quest to explore. I committed to a no time traveling rule so that I had something new to do every day. My friends and I both online and offline would excitedly visit each other's islands pretty much every other day since you never knew what items/perks would randomize for you.

Most of my friends moved on from playing AC:NH months or even years ago, but I still check on my island and all my villagers once every few weeks. It's one of my comfort games :).
